Help Support Ryan Newell's Defense

As you may know, I'm a disabled veteran. I've been rather angry for quite a long time about the activities of the Westboro Baptist Church in their regular protests at the funerals of our soldiers killed in action. They claim that God is punishing our soldiers because the country tolerates homosexuals. Fred Phelps (I won't call him a Reverend, he's too evil for that) who leads the WBC is known for his hate videos on YouTube like "God Hates America" and "God Hates Australia".

Recently, another disabled veteran, Ryan Newell, a double amputee with a bronze star and purple heart, was arrested for "stalking" the WBC as they traveled to their funeral protests, because he would monitor their movements and report to others to let them know where they were headed, as a lawful means of counteracting the WBC hate machine. He had a couple firearms in his car at the time, as is his Constitutional Right (see MacDonald vs Chicago if you think otherwise), so he's being wrongly charged on weapons charges as well. Ryan was, like me and many other veterans, very disturbed by the WBC actions. Why the government isn't curbing their activity as hate crimes is beyond me. However, if you feel that Ryan deserves to get off on this, or even if you just think he deserves a good defense team in his trial, I ask you to donate to his legal defense fund here:

Thank you for your support.

TOOLZ and more TOOLZ!!!

Greetings,
It's been a few weeks since the last post. I've been working hard building/sculpting some new products. Tools....

I've been sculpting silly... there's now over 85 different tools and the collection is growing daily. All are textured. Some come in small sets, but the above set is the jumbo pack of 75 of the tools, including wrenches, crescent wrenches, ratchets, long and short sockets (in 3/8,1/2 and 3/4 inch drives), screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, a crowbar... the Jumbo Pack is a mere L$500, which is less than L$7 per tool!

Avionics Flight Instruments 1.0

Ever since I first joined Second Life, I wanted to enjoy flying, having been a long time flight sim geek for years. But the sim physics made it prohibitive. Havok 1 was terrible. Havok 4 was an improvement, you could survive sim border crossings if you didn't have much in the way of attachments.... Havok7 is now implemented it seems, and LL created the Blake Sea area between two of the big mainland continents, with reserved flight lanes made up of low lag, low occupancy sims. There are dozens of airports now accessible in this area. Even some airlines.

As a result of my air division RP in the Merczateers, I designed my own avionics flight instruments HUDs akin to tactical fighter plane huds. I placed these on sale earlier this month, and now that I'm seeing how the market is, I've dropped the price from L$ 2500 to L$1250, which is a less than the cost of most un-instrumented airplanes.

What the instruments feature is unique in SL: climb/dive rate meter, a real time active artificial horizon gyroscope, and an active, predictive, gunsight reticle that, once targeting someone, will track them througout the entire sim, and 34 meters beyond the adjacent sim borders, from sea level to over 4000 meters altitude, with minimal lag. The gunsight predicts where your target will be when your bullets arrive there and coach you where to aim in order to shoot with sufficient lead.

Yes, there are free flight instruments out there, cheap speedometers and altimeters in dials like in old timey airplanes. None of them are as fast reacting, as accurate, or as low lag as my product. You can buy the Avionics Flight Instruments from Hypersonic Space Systems at our SL Marketplace store or at our inworld store at Space Island:

Current RP Project: Protocol Droid

Recently, His Hugeness, the Great and Powerful Grancha Desijilic Tiure, Boss of the Desijilic Hutt Clan, has requested that I build for him a Protocol Droid, to conduct translations from his native Hutt language to Basic (known on this planet as English) and back. It seems that his grand uncle Jabba lost his last protocol droid when he was killed attending a quiet weekend sandyachting jaunt to execute some miscreants by feeding them to the Saarlacc.

I've finished the machinery assembly, and gotten the propulsion system online as you can see in the image above. Next I need to program the actuation system to move the arms and head around, as well as to enable the serving tray in front. After that I will complete the Protocol and Translation system. I already have most of the Hutt-Basic dictionary completed.

In the background, you can see the parked remains of the recent pod races here in Mos Espa .

Once this droid is completed, it will be made available for sale to the general public through the Hypersonic Space Systems stores and vendors. Yes, this IS the droid you are looking for....

Featured Halloween Product: Roach Infestation!

This is a little something I whipped up a while back as a prank in Badnarik, where I regularly infested the dumpster by the ANBC Bank building with these lovely large black cockroaches, emitted by a custom particle system. It would drive the insect-averse female officers a bit batty.

This product is a great choice for any steampunk, grungy, neko, zombie, or other horror build, especially during the Halloween season. It's only L$25 and its copy/nomod/notrans, so you can rez a lot of them around your build if you wish.

Introduction and Welcome

Hey everybody, this is my new blog to talk about me, my Second Life, and my online business, Hypersonic Space Systems.

I am a swedish/karelian girl trained in engineering, programming, 3d design, and fine arts. I speak english very well since I've spent so much of my life in the states (my father was an engineer in the aerospace industry here in the US, and my education was in American schools), it sometimes seems like swedish is a second language to me! I live in the US as I have dual citizenship, but am still very proud of my homeland.

I have worked in the virtual world of Second Life for several years, currently focusing on content creation because it seems like most every other area of business Linden Lab has made it impossible for people to earn a living.

I am also a supporter of Woodbury University, which I feel has gotten a very bum rap in SL and been treated criminally by Linden Lab and other residents like the JLU and the Emerald team. The JLU have been discredited now, and Emerald has been banned from SL for their criminality, so Woodbury is now being vindicated as innocent, guilty only of standing up for the truth and free speech.

In SL, I build spacecraft, aircraft, flight instruments, space habitats and other scripted products that I sell through my Hypersonic Space Systems store on SL Marketplace. I have a store in the Scilands estate community, in Space Island region, right on the airstrip of the Space Studies Institute, where you can find hangars for many of the New Space firms that are making headlines in the real world, from Virgin Galactic, to SpaceX, XCOR, Masten Aerospace, and Armadillo Aerospace, as well as many others. I am currently building a demo O'Neill Cylinder space habitat for the National Space Society, Oregon Chapter.

You can find HSS vendors in a number of the most popular airports and RP sims in SL.

For fun I RP as a member of the Merczateers Tactical Forces, the premier military faction in SL combat. The Mercz are a freelance militia corporation hired by the Groznovian government to stabilize and defend one of their cities that is home to the Protean industrial facility. I belong to the Mercz Air Division, and engage in air and ground combat frequently. You can see my merits and awards on my profile picks inworld.

I also like to RP Star Wars (I am currently scripting a Protocol Droid for Grancha the Hutt that will translate his native Huttese language into basic/english and back). In SWRP I am a Corellian Security officer (retired) and CEO of a starship construction firm in the Corellian Shipyards. SWRP focuses on a timeline some 220 years after the events of the Star Wars movies, so it leaves a lot of room for individuals in the community to innovate drama and plot twists independent of the Lucasfilms franchise.

I'll be talking more about my company products, about my RP activities, and more about life in Second Life in general in future postings.

ALSO: Contrary to the claims of a certain nasty and mean SL estate owner in her blog, I am not an alt of a well known former estate owner, although I know that person well. That is all I am going to say on that topic. Linden Lab knows who I am, she does not.
